BORED - NO CHANCE!

I thought I might have got bored of the AtoZ by now but to my utter amazement I'm not. In fact I am thoroughly enjoying looking for B's and Pete and the boys seem to be getting more and more into it too. They have even suggested some things for B today - Burger King, Bon Bons and some ideas for other letters too - Frankie and Benny's, Macdonald's, Chiquito's ......

As it was not snowing or raining today we decided to visit Brereton Heath country park which is relatively close to my Dad's house.

Before we went into the park I decided we would go and find a geocache that was very close by and began with B. On the way we spotted this sign on a barn wall can't you see how the boys love me taking their picture.

A bit further down the path we found "Brereton Scout Group - Green Lane" hiding next to a telegraph pole covered with very prickly brambles. Despite the facial expressions they did actually enjoy themselves. Not sure I am very happy though I look like a midget next to my boys now. :o(

After a very muddy walk around the mere at Brereton we drove to my Dad's where we spent a very pleasant couple of hours before coming home via Byley.

Last night we watched Bruno which Matt's friend had left at our house by accident last week. I think I watched most of it thorough my cardigan it was so cringy. I honestly don't know how he gets away with it without someone beating him to a pulp. Got to admit that I did find some of it funny though.

Walking for Shoes

The 2nd post in one day have I nothing better to do? The answer is no. I am sitting relaxing on the deck with a glass of Iced Green Tea watching a chipmunk running about in total peace and quiet - what better thing could I be doing than sitting editing some pictures. Pete has gone out with Nick for a spin in the car with the roof down and my cousin Claire and her friend Stacy (both 18) have taken the boys out to Canada's Wonderland to go on all the rides and visit the water park so they won't be back until late. When Pete gets back we will be repacking our bags ready to go to New York tomorrow morning. This morning we walked down this road....

to visit this tree .....

so that we could leave Kyle's geocoin in a cache that is hidden there. We then jumped into the car to go and find some more and I think someone may have enjoyed the ride.....

Are you ready for this?

I bet you can't guess what I've been playing with this morning!! Sorry about the large post but I just can't help myself.

We took the dogs here this morning for a walk as there are 2 Geocaches hidden nearby.
Looks like someone has had some fun here - can't say that it looks comfy though.

We wound our way through the woods and found the spot for the first cache so Pete was sent in. I couldn't possibly do it - I have a camera you know.

After a bit of a search and no luck we carried on to the Whitegate Way to continue the walk.

Where we actually found the next cache - Hurray!

Matt also found some golf balls along the way as we were near to a golf course.

So he played with his balls in the sun.

By this stage everyone, but me, was getting bored of my new camera.

Just look at the colour of that hand.

The lower half didn't fair much better.

Has anyone lost an undergarment?
We are off out again this afternoon and guess what I will be doing - again.

The Tattoine Incident

We managed to actually go Geo-caching again today after what felt like a long break. Our cache of choice was at Tatton Park, was in three parts and was thoroughly enjoyable (The Beecherlings would love this one with it's huge playground and ice cream van at the start and finish of the 2 mile walk). The sun was out as were the deer but unfortunately they were just a bit too far away to take any pictures, normally I would have ventured closer but the wind was biting so I didn't bother. With it being Show off Sunday over at HS:MS I am going to Show Off some of the pictures taken this afternoon.
.
A brief moment of peace when we lost the kids, just look how worried we are. The camera was on timer.
.
Pete panicking because the log he was sat on was rolling backwards.
.
Matt actually finding a cache, he usually gives up looking for anything that isn't in full view.

We found and took this Travel bug that was inside - it's mission is to collect 1000 autographs and travel far and wide.

And finally another card that I made on Friday.
I'm beginning to enjoy this stamping lark.
.
Note for Mima and Sue - You wouldn't believe how many full stops were used on this one!!!

Having some ZZZZZZZzzzzzz's

There is no chance of snapping a snooze here for today's prompt at HS:MS as I'm home all alone, the dogs are constantly bouncy, the dragon only sleeps at night and I am wide awake so a delve into the archives was the order of the day. I am going to be in sooo much trouble if he sees that I have posted this picture so ssshhhh nobody say a word. This was taken on the Ferry over to France last summer and yes he was snoring.

Yesterday we went on a mammoth geocache in the form of a 4.5 mile circular walk which started on a disused railway in Audley. We found most of the ones we went to look for but failed on a couple. The first one we had to look for was next to a roundabout, a pub and a shop so how we were supposed to do this one without being spotted I'm not sure and just to make it that little bit easier it was a nano cache which means it is about the size of a broad bean. Predictably this one didn't get found.
The next few were easy as they were 35mm film boxes and then it started to go wrong when we met 3 old ladies and their dogs. These old ladies were stood right next to the cache as their Yorkshire Terrier had got itself completely lost and the sausage dog was stuck in the undergrowth. We helped, well Matt tried to, and then we waited for about 15 minutes before they decided to move on but as soon as we started looking someone else came so we gave up and moved ourselves on to the next cache. Where, would you believe it, the 3 moldies (Kyle's words not mine) were stood chatting to a friend so we gave up on that one before we started. The rest we found without too many problems as no one else seemed stupid enough to trek 2 miles across muddy fields in January so we didn't have to try and look inconspicuous. We did have to avoid a few, rather large bulls and lots of mud which I wasn't too successful with as I managed to get totally stuck at one point which is about the time I discovered that my nice funky wellies have 3 holes in them- yuck.

A bit more than we could chew!

Today we decided to go geo-caching for a change so against my better judgement I let Pete decide the location. True to form he cocked up and choose the hilliest area for miles around Bickerton and Peckforton so we set off from home at 11.30am and got to our destination just before midday. We climbed up, and up and up and eventually found the site of the first cache. By this time it was nearly 1pm so we decided the picnic would be a good idea it was after this that things started to go wrong. We had a decision to make we could go the easy way and find 2 more cache or we could go the hard way and find 3 so our wise, self elected leader decided that he would take us the long way. The boys easily agreed to this as there was a promise of ice-cream or cake at the candle workshop so off we trotted up further into the heavens. To cut a long story short the boys got cake and then the GPS gave up, did that put our great leader off, oh no it would take much more than that for my man to admit defeat. We walked, we climbed, we moaned, believe me we moaned and we eventually gave up as the sun went down and we were still half way up a mini mountain in the woods with only one torch between us. It was at this point that Pete decided that he had hurt his knees and that he could hardly walk, the journey down was joyous to say the least!!! Has this put us off - not a chance! We got home and ordered a new GPS which should come next week and is much better for the job in hand and I am planning tomorrows foray which is next to a canal so should be a much better bet.

The one thing I did get out of today was a picture for SPS it's a bit of a cheat really as Pete took it when we were about half way up, I just hope it counts.

Never, Ever Again

After 18 years of being together I really should know better than to listen to one of Pete's "great" ideas. But no last night I had to listen to him and even go along with him. So in the pitch black on New Years Night we got togged out with warm clothes, torches and our GPS and went geo-caching. We managed to find 2 caches, a scratched hand, a bashed shin, a huge puddle which resulted in a soaking wet sock and trainer, a terrified son and a large, muddy, slippy slope - I'll leave the result of that to your imagination! It would help if our wonderful children had the first idea about how to use a torch and that it is better if you shine them at the ground rather than in your parents faces at every opportunity. It would also help if the GPS would switch on quickly as that would prevent us from doing a mile round walk across the said muddy slopes, through woods and brambles and across ditches to find out that we had parked the car 20 feet away from the bloody cache in the first place. So from now on Pete's night time activities are going to be seriously curtailed.
.

I must add here that it was actually great fun - but I still won't be doing it again at night.
